Anyone else having problem with the signal this week, ok during the day but late afternoon we are having trouble picking up BBC , BBC2 and Itv. Had a similar problem a few months ago but corrected itself so never investigated further.
Our system is old so no doubt needs upgrading but will leave it until winter as do not watch much TV in the summer

When we were on our last holiday for 2 weeks, we used to always get problems at around 3-5 in picking up those channels :/ strange

I'm losing my signal between 10-10.30 a.m. then it's fine again. Only started doing this a few days ago.

The problem I believe is that the Algarve falls outside of the signal coverage of the Sky satellite. To get around this a bigger dish is needed and all of the equipment and cables need to be in tip top condition. The bag of tricks that collects the signal from the dish is a key component. eRichard posted something about this bit recently.

A lot of other factors like weather (rain seriously attenuates the signal) and sunspot activity can affect the signal.

Needless to say, it helps if the dish is pointing in exactly the right direction.

I was party to the earlier debate and have now had my system checked out. Sure enough, the dish had twisted a little, I suspect during the really bad storm late last year. So if you're having problems the positioning of/state of your dish might be the best place to start your investigation - especially if the timeline of your problems coincides with that storm. Good luck :D
