For those in Carvoeiro who were visiting various hostelries on Christmas Day, Vale De Milo etc, did you have a nice time?
Was the food Good?

Vale de Milho was Excerlent. Food was good and the drink was better because it was all inclusive no extra charge for anything.

I managed to get aa booking at Julio's for Christmas Day for 5 of us (including my 87-year-old father-in-law who is out here for the first time ever).

As per usual the food was excellent - 55 Euros inclusive with a choice of 4 starters, 4 mains and just 1 dessert. Included half-bottle of wine (or more if you wanted it!) each plus pre- and post-dinner drink.

That's the third time I have had Christmas Dinner at Julio's and it still comes top of my restaurant list in Carvoeiro.

Glad that everyone enjoyed their Christmas lunches - we will be out there next Christmas!!!

John & i went to our local Indian restuarant for Christmas lunch - faultless!! They certainly know how to cook the turkey and roast potatoes!!

Dismal, wet and gloomy here - know where i would much rather be!

We wwent to Maxims. Absolutely fantastic - best Christmas meal I have ever had. We went for the 5 course option, which gave us:

single king prawn with sauce for an appetiser (very meaty!)
Smoked salmon mouuse
Warmed duck liver salad
Clear Mushroom soup with a truffle
Champagne sorbet (another extra bit!)
I had venison and OH had veal - beautiful meat cooked to perfection
Creme Brulee
Coffee, chocolates
Glass of Port
Nice candle as a pressie at the end
2 bottles of good wine (not the house stuff) and a couple of beers
Came to £100 including the tip for two of us.

Not cheap, but this would have cost over £100 each in the UK and probably not been anywhere near as nice. An absolutely wonderful evening.

They gave the option of booking 3, 4 or 5 courses. The appetiser and sorbet were freebies for all meals. Prices started at around 34 euros for the 3 course. Mmmm - I can just taste the venison now !

£100 for the best Christmas meal you've ever had sounds a bargain. We went down to the Square for drinks but had a traditional family meal at my daughters'.

We went to Barnard's in Ferragudo for Christmas lunch, very, very good.

Columbo's for New Years sounds like fun! Wish we were there (how often do people say that on here?) Say Hi to Annette - she doesn't know our names. Have a blast.

Gary and I and our two boys had a great Christmas Lunch up at Rascals Cocktail Bar. Rachel and Sergio did a tremendous job, the food was traditional Trukey and was cooked to perfection. We all sat outside on the terrace under the canopy, sun was shining drinks were flowing and when the sun started to go down Sergio put on the outside heaters for us all. Frist time for them but not the last we hope as we want the same next year too

I went to Bojangles with a party totalling 6 (2 were kids aged 9 and 12) and we had a fantastic day.

Everyone working in the bar that day was very friendly and welcoming.

The food was excellent and they went to a lot of effort to put a great family day on. for 40 euro for adults and 25 euro for kids it was good value too. had a glass of sparkling wine on arrival, a bottle of wine and 4 courses (starter, main, pud and then coffee & mince pies too!)

The kids each had a small gift on the table (sweets/chocolates). One of the guys who works behind the bar (sorry can't remember his name) did some card tricks which blew us all away - especially the kids, and then there was a singer/guitarist who was also not bad and amusing with it.

All in all a great day and I wouldn't hesitate to go back should I be lucky enough to get the time off work so I can come to CVO for xmas again this year! Many thanks to all at Bonjangles!

Sounds to me as if there were quite a lot of good venues to choose from for a Christmas celebration. Wonderful to hear that there were so many happy people on that day, thanks to the bars and restaurants that stayed open.

Hiya, Glad to hear it was fantastic at Bojangles. We knew it would be. The guy that did the card games is the son of the owner. The whole family run the place, I think I have got that right. They are some of the nicest and decentest people about. Will be there to see them in April. Too far away.Running a farm takes over our life.

Ha, no!!.We are a wildlife friendly farm, naturally rearing Aberdeen Angus beef which are reared, suckled on the farm and then eat grass from the farm. Not the funny grass though. Wow that would be an interesting study - can see it in the News of the World Paper now!!!!!!!!!We have about 80 cattle running over 300 acres of land. Tenant farmers though not rich land owners, hence the itsy bitsy holidays as chep as possible.
But our family name is Emm so our beef slogan is, wait 4 it- !! are you ready 'EMM IS 4 MEAT'.
