OK Mike.

I am trying to discover what are the best rooms to ask for. The suites, the rooms..

I don't like being high up, but I want to choose the best room with the best view.

Cheers

Sea facing every time or over looking the pool.

Are the ones overlooking pool not also sea facing?

Yes they are but if you don't fancy too much height then stay low and see more of the pool

Stayed there last week...the side sea view suite was far from being that as descibed..the sea view being obstructed by trees. THe rooms are supposed to be ready by 2pm but access was denied until 2.45pm. The service in the bar was appalling. I went to the bar to order drink and food and was told to sit down and they would come to me/us...10 to 15 minutes later nothing so I went up to the bar staff and advised them how long I had been waiting only to be told that I would have to wait longer. The Palms next door is far more friendly we were advised that they often receive Hotel Cristal visitorsyou can guess the reasons yourself.
The maintainence was questionable with the fuse box cover hinges being secured by duck tape, warped and gaps in the door and a lock which had to be repaired as soon as we gained access. Whether its the local manner but when you feel a need to complain staff appear to 'argue' with you. eg blaming us for the door as someone had wobbled it. We were not waiting for 15 minuts it was 10 and so on... We were also overcharged when checking out so check you bill closely when leaving and while I am on the subject the hotel parking is somewhat of a free for all with many cars being boxed in.
We did not feel welcome and WILL NOT be visiting it again.

I walked around this hotel earlier in the year and stopped for a drink in the bar. First impressions were fairly poor and the service was apauling.
If you are looking for a hotel try the Almansor I have stayed there a couple of times and have always been happy. The facilities are good and you are a bit nearer to the village centre.
Try Expedia they normally have some good deals going!!

Karen - your spot on - our first impression was the same and the furniture in the room resembled something you would find in an IBIS hotel cheap and basic.
I forgot to mention that the aircon was extremely noisy as well also although we had a suite with fridge etc there is a note to say that we couldnt use the fridge for personal use. so why have I got a cooker etc in the suite :x :x :x
