We returned from holiday in Carvoeiro just over a week ago and would have had a wonderful time as usual if it hadn't been for witnessing a case of animal neglect day after day.From our apartment you can see across the roofs of the buildings in Carvoeiro.on our first day we noticed a puppy on the roof of one of the buildings.There was no evidence of any food or water provided and the flat roof was littered with dog mess that had built up over a length of time.The dog was kept there day and night in hot sunshine and rain and never appeared to receive any human contact let alone exercise.We tried to find out who owned the apartment as it was over the top of an ice cream parlour and bank but we were met with the remark that the owners had been told about it on many occcassions.We could not leave it at that so reported it to the police in Carvoeiro who said that they would pursue the matter. We then noticed that someone appeared on the roof and cleared up the dog mess and the few pieces of rag that the poor animal had been lying on and then disappeared.The dog was still there when we left.Does anyone know of any organisations that keep an eye on these sort of things.If anyone is in Carvoeiro on holiday perhaps they would enquire at the ice cream shop on the in road if the little dog is still there and if he is OK.
