Can anyone advise me please on how I can get online in Carvoeiro using my laptop.
I am taking my with me on hols--its new to me and Im stilltrying to get used to it !
My hol apartment has tel.point. and Ive been in touch with people there (hol makers) who tell me they use a special card to get online.
Steen tells me I can open an account with
www.clix.pt (free) and then pay phone bill. But had no luck getting on there tonight.
Wonder if any of you have used a laptop in CVO --or maybe someone who is resident can help me please?
Would be most grateful for any advice,
Thanks so much, Ellie.

Hi,
I'll bet there are free internet providers in portgal as well. set up an account , plug in to the tel.net. and up you go. (make sure you change your local settings!)

www.iol.pt is the easiest free ISP, because you do not have to tamper with the network settings (DNS, etc.). Just register a username, create a new connection, type in phone number and password and youre off.
If you have trouble setting up your own account (it is all in portuguese again.....hellooooooooooo.....anybody home at our national ISPs????),
I have set up a username you can use in case of emergency:
Telefone: 674400000
Username/Nome de utilizador:
cvoforum@iol.pt
Password/Palavra chave: carvoeiro
E-mail:
cvoforum@iol.pt
Conta POP3:
cvoforum@iol.pt
Palavra chave: carvoeiro
Servidor SMTP: smtp.iol.pt
Servidor POP3: pop.iol.pt
happy surfing!
G.
Obrigada!

I opened an account with clix from the UK. As I have no Portuguese it was a bit hit and miss but I eventually got through the process and downloaded the clix software that then put an icon for clix on my computer that dials up and logs me on from the normal telephone socket in my house. I've used it for about 9 months now when visiting my house and it seems to work fine.
