We have been to Carvoeiro about 3 times before but not for 5 years or so now. We are staying in Carvoeiro Club by the tennis courts for the first time and have heard there are some places to eat at Monte Carvoeiro. Is this try and how many and of what type and the places to eat there.

Can't wait to come out 2 weeks to go.

At Monte Carvoeiro you have :

2 x Strone Steak restaurants
O'Salmoa - international food - very good standard
Indian Restaurant - not tried it recently but it seems popular
Phoenix Nites - sort of snack bar - again not tried it (but it does advertise full English Breakfast)
Slam Bar - very English
Cocktail Garden - extrmely good bar for cocktails before / after dinner

You are also only ten minute walk into town with many other good places to eat.

There are also two restaurants near you - one if you turn right coming out of the tennis club called the Original I think and a new one. If you go out of Club Carvoeiro towards Lagoa and when you get to the main road take the very first right turn - only about 50 metres and the restaurant is around the first bend. Not tried it myself but friends said it was OK.

If by tennis courts you mean the Carvoeiro Club then there are several restaurants nearer to you than Monte Carvoeiro (although Monte Carvoeiro has a nice atmosphere with lots of restaurants round the square). There is a good pizza place and buffet style restaurant on the Quinta do Paraiso (QDP) complex and of course 'The Ritz' just above the QDP central facilities - a very Portuguese experience not to be missed, especially if you have lots of hungry people to feed cheaply (8euros per meal !). There is also L'Orange and the Villa Nova restaurant - both good. And if you don't mind walking up to the Seismarias water tower you have our favourite - the Bon Bon restaurant. So you've got loads of choice, all within walking distance !
