quarter share

Post by stomagirls »

Can anyone give me their thoughts on quarter share buying at the Rocha Brava? We are unable financially to buy a property outright but have been browsing agents and noticed this way of buying into a property.

Thanks

We have owned a quarter share at Rocha Brava for 21 years without problems. All the other quarters
have been sold many times over and perhaps we have been lucky but we always seem to get owners
that fit in well. We run our own refurbishment fund and all pay in £20 per month although a few years
ago we all paid in larger amounts to have the kitchen and bathrooms refurbished. We really enjoy our
13 weeks each year especially now we are retired and our family use our time in July and August as we
find it too hot then. We shall be at R.B. in February and to the middle of March, also in September if you
are around then you could pop in and see us for a chat. P.M. me if you would like this.

We started off on the Portuguese property market with a quarter share at Rocha Brava and can thoroughly recommend it. The most important point when looking at this sort of deal is the quality of the management company and in that area Rocha Brava has an excellent record.
The rotational system of 13 weeks per annum works very well and the 2 weeks in the high season can be rented out which will pay for the years costs - alternatively you can use these 2 weeks to enjoy the heat as MasieKs family do.
The properties are a bit older but the site is always maintained to a high standard. Most of the properties have been renovated and I would advise that you buy one that has been modernised to avoid extra costs.
Most of the co-owners seem to be like minded people which helps when having to agree on any work for example.
From the investment point of view there always seems to be interested buyers and with the sales agency on site there should not be too much of a problem in re-selling or up-grading if and when you wish to do so.
We enjoyed our time there and it gave us a good insight into owning property in the Algarve without taking initial big risks.
Good luck :D
