:? You are all very kind to point me in the right direction. I did actually have a look at the sites mentioned, but I still feel lost due to the fact I could NOT find the actual venues listed nor did I see any indication as to how to get tickets. I could just be dense here, but do I need to assume t...

:( I am very disappointed that no one on the forum follows Women's Soccer. The media are also indifferent and so I guess we are going to miss out again.

Algarve Cup

We are soccer people (futbol to those of you in Europe) and I've heard there is a Women's Soccer Event called the Algarve Cup being held in somewhere in the Algarve in early March (5 - 12). We will be there around that time and both of us would love to take in a game or two, but I can't seem to find...

Gee... I would feel for you guys but my ARMS ARE NOT THAT LONG! We got over a foot of snow yesterday and it is still 9 weeks before I fly out of this deep freeze to lovely Carvoeiro. If our neighbour had not come by with his huge snow blowing equipment I would still be digging! I'm getting too old f...

casa o bife

We were in CVO the first two weeks of March and tried this place for the first time, mostly on recommendations from this forum. We had the fillet, a sirloin and a mixed grill on the stone and it was fabulous. Staff were very friendly and chatted us up a bit, since were had somehow beat the usual din...

renovations

When we were there in March 2005 the new owners were renovating the place. How is this coming along?

Just because we took a miss this winter doesn't mean we won't be back!

Ohhhhh so good. We only ate out sparingly while in CVO and this was the one place we went back to again. The Pork chops were scrumptious and the fish wonderful. Best of all we were made to feel special and no one even blinked that we wanted to sit outside, even when there was plenty of room indoors....

Thanks largermeister! You are sure right about the horrible traffic. And I wasn't even the one driving.

Will give it a try next time I am there.

Colina do Sol

I am really missing my days in Carvoeiro and day dream about the time we spent at Centaines Beach near Colina Sol. They were renovating last time we were there. New owners. Anyone know how they are progressing on this? I'm saving up for my next turn at lying in the sun and they were great to us last...

Ferragudo

Good Day All: It snowed here for two days and I am in my daydream world of the Algarve. Two sisters and brother in law are staying near Ferragudo for two months and I am stuck at home using the snow blower at 6 am just so I can get out to work. Looking at the Live Cam at http://www.vivendamiranda.co...

found couple

Hi everyone: By looking at other posts I found references to a couple of bakerys. Still don't know if the one in CVO is opening again. But I have some places I can try. The Intermarche has some things that are good, but we like to try all sorts of new baked good. I'll take a look in Portimão for Mir...

julios was strange

We ate at Julio's in Feb 2004 and found the service ostentacious and the waiters punktilious. I c  an't spell worth anything but needless to say the dining experience was not worth the cost. Food was OK but the mushroom appatizer was chopped fine and smothered in garlic. The Praun soup was puri...

Old fashioned but comfortable

We stayed in Colina Sol in February and the quiet, spacious apartment suited us very well. It was our first trip to Portugal and we were made to feel right at home. The hotel gave us a room with lovely terrace and we were only 100 steps up from from the beach. And what a view. Colina Sol is not fanc...

bakery and pastry shop

We were in CVO in February and hope to go back next March. My husband is a big fan of good breads and pastry and we found a bakery in CVO but it was never open whenever we went by. Does anyone know if the bakery is still in business? We did see some nice bread but it was from a store in Silves. We a...
