Car tax

There were questions about this earlier. It has just been announced in the Algarve Resident that it can be paid between May 23rd and June 15th this year.

You need a green form - Modelo 11 I think it is called - from wherever you are going to buy your tax disc. Form costs about 12cents from memory. Fill it in and take with your two registration docs and fiscal number. Finance dept at camara for sure and also parish councils I think. Some newsagents and lottery shops too but I am not sure about any in Cvo

What happens if you buy an untaxed car after this date? How do you get it taxed? If you can't get it taxed can you still drive it?

Hi Jake, I think you can buy the ‘stamp’ at anytime throughout the year (last year I was about 2 months late) but you pay the full annual fee.
ie. tax your car in Feb 05 and you would get a stamp with “04” on it, and in the following month or two (march/april) you’d have to buy a “05” stamp

....... if you know what I mean
