WALK - MONDAY 25 MAY 2020 - RIBEIRA DAS CANAS
Linda and Russell will be leading this walk and numbers will be limited to10 people maximum due to the new restrictions and social distancing will have to be adhered to. The walk is 9kms, around 2 hours. There is one uphill section but the rest is fairly flat, therefore quite a moderate walk. We have 4 x water crossings and a muddy area. It is very scenic as we walk beside the river and later head down a secluded valley beside a small lake. We did this walk last March but have added a new section. The usual rules apply: wear suitable footwear, bring a drink, poles if you have them, no charge, walk at your own risk etc. The walk will start at 10:00am and we will meet at Cafe Casa De Pasto Riba E Serra at Rasmalho. Directions: follow the N125 towards Portimao then turn off and follow the signs for Monchique. At the roundabout take the left turning for Monchique (N266). At the village of Rasmalho you will see the Café Casa De Pasto Riba E Serra on your left. Park on the right-hand side of the road, opposite the café. We will drive to the start of the walk which is around 2kms further along the road. The phone contact on the day will be 0044 7960552618. Please indicate below if you will be joining us for the walk.
Also indicate if you would like to join us for lunch al-fresco at restaurant Ourique (about 5kms away). We will have to sit at separate tables and I would need to book. They usually do a set menu for around 8 euros.

Only 9 walkers today due to CV19 restrictions. We only had one hill but could then enjoy a nice breeze and views down the valley. We saw a large herd of wild boar but saw not other people or dogs. We completed the 9kms in 4 1/4 hours and 4 of us enjoyed a very nice meal at the Cafe in Rasmalho.
