Walk 20 January 2020: Odelouca/Ourique : CLOSED
Walk 20 January 2020: Odelouca/Ourique : CLOSED
This is Russell & Linda's walk that they did on 17 December from the Parreirinha : they will be leading and showing me the route, but we will be starting from the Ourique cafe/restaurant, just along the road from the Parreirinha as well as lunching there.
It is only 8kms, therefore around 2 hours. There are lots of ups and downs but nothing on all fours and all on good tracks. We will be able to see the municipal tip in the distance but this can be a bonus as there are usually lots of birds so bring binoculars if you have them. Further along we pass by orange groves and enjoy some good views up to Alferce.
Degree of Difficulty : It is a grade 3.5 due to the number of ups and downs.
Meeting Time: Meeting Point: Restaurant Ourique.Russell and Linda are hoping to arrange for the cafe to be open at 0950 for coffee and lunch orders. Start at 10.00.
Directions: Drive to Lagoa and turn left on the N125. Drive to the the Portimao/Monchique exit and follow the N124 directions Monchique/Silves. At the roundabouts keep right and follow the signs for Silves. The restaurant is on the right side of the road on a sharp bend before Odelouca. Please park just before the restaurant.
Alternatively, drive to Silves, over the bridge , turn left and drive on N124 for 10km, when restaurant will be on your left.
Lunch . the restaurant does a set meal within our 10 euros budget, including tip etc. Hopefully, it will be sunny enough to eat outside.
Numbers . as mentioned in the other post, numbers are restricted to 20 and I already have reservations for that number. Should anyone not be able to come, please advise as there may be a reserve list. See viewtopic.php?f=39&t=28378
Usual caveats - all walks are at your own risk, and we do not walk if it is pouring with rain.....I will endeavour to put any cancellation note on this site by 0830 on the day of the walk.
Any questions , please ask or ring 282 380015 preferably between 1800-1900 or before 0900.

Ref: Alternative walk Jan 20th
Hi all - I think Geoff has a difficult task trying to please everyone and to keep the numbers to a manageable group and as a relative newcomer here I would like to thank him for helping us integrate into the group.
I have discussed with Geoff setting up an alternative walk on the 20th or 21st for those who cannot obtain places with the original group.
Happy to co-ordinate but would welcome the assistance of anyone who knows a route and would like to lead.
Failing that Geoff has given me some suggestions as a starter walk that I can lead.
You can post here or contact me at george.hendry@hotmail.com
Thanks
George

Re: Walk 20 January 2020: Odelouca/Ourique : CLOSED
Thanks for this George...there are (at least) 3 walks that can be done from O Gralha in Vale de Fuzeiros where we will be on 13 Jan.....quite happy to show one of them to you ( & anyone else) who is there on the 13th and fancies an extra walk after lunch!.......or perhaps just the first section or so!

HI George,
David and Mieke are happy to organise walks with you as an alternative to Geoff's fully-booked walks.
We can help out with the directions for most of the walks.
As Geoff suggested we can kick off with a walk from O'Gralha, for example the Menhir walk, starting at 10 am on Monday 20 January.
If everyone is OK with the idea, then we can make a new posting on this side,
Thanks
David

Many thanks David & George for helping out in a difficult situation...as you are both at O Gralha on 13 Jan, might be an idea to provisionally book a table or two for the following week.As Geoff suggested we can kick off with a walk from O'Gralha, for example the Menhir walk, starting at 10 am on Monday 20 January.
If everyone is OK with the idea, then we can make a new posting on this side,

Re: Walk 20 January 2020: Odelouca/Ourique : CLOSED
A freezing cold morning, but 20 walkers/lunchers + Keesha ( who seemed very much at home) gathered for an early warming coffee.
Before Linda & Russell marched us off for a lovely walk...2h 15 mins.
Above photos courtesy of Linda...it was too cold for me! Back at Ourique, we managed a drink in the sun...
Before our leaders led us inside...
Past the snail seller..
To a lovely fire...
and a great meal....
Russell forgave Sue for thinking that his pork knuckles looked liked her chicken...
and Nicholas got full marks for an empty plate... The extra wine cost an additional 50c, but the charity still got 25€...thanks to you all.
