Donato's (new place to avoid confusion)
Donato's (new place to avoid confusion)
We went there last night and the setting and ambience seemed to us much improved.
The personal service from both Donato and his wife together with all the other staff was exceptional and much improved from our last visit in Sesmarias.
The food was a mixture - starters of prawn cocktail, garlic pizza and carpaccio of meat were good but the main courses were strange in that both the spaghetti bolognaise and the cannelloni seemed to be made from minced chicken or turkey (rather than the traditional beef) with in the case of the spaghetti in a very thin red (wine ?) sauce.
Whilst not inedible this produced a meal different and well below that from other Italian restaurants.
Are we being ultra fussy or have others had the same experience ?

I don't think that you can beat Dolce Vita in Praia da Rocha for any pizza or pasta. Packed out all year round with tons of locals of all ages. Great atmosphere and great staff. http://www.pizzerialadolcevita.pt/index.html
Re spag bol I have found that in Portugal it is rarely made with beef.
