O Rafaiol
O Rafaiol
The Restaurant "O Rafaiol" - closed for several years - is open again. We have been there this week and we had a wonderful evening with a very good filet steak with pepper sauce, fresh vegetables and a Cartuxa red wine.
You will find the restaurant at the end of the 'outroad' to Lagoa on the right side of the street. Don't be deluded by the big neon-light-sign in front of the building: this is not a truck stop! Inside, you find a cosy restaurant, decorated in a typical portuguese style and with calcadas on the floor. You can also sit outside on the roofed terrace.
The menu is small and the dishes are excellent. They serve fresh fish and meat (roasted lamb at the weekend) with vegetables and fresh herbs from the chefs own garden - and they have best cataplana in town!
Some of you may know the menu and the kitchen: the restaurant is owned by Oswald and Peggy, who ran the restaurant "Rafaiol's Alfanzina", near Rocha Brava, until the beginning of May.
Give it a try!

Re: O Rafaiol
Is the one near RB closed or has it been taken over by someone else ?
Re: O Rafaiol
As far as I know, it was closed for 14 days and will be reopened this weekend.

Thank you for that zhit. We noticed that it had opened on the evening before we left. We will definitely give it a go next time we are over.

Went there a couple of weeks ago and had a lovely meal. One of the most delicious duck breast dishes I have ever eaten. Also very good value.
