Re: Majas reopens on 1st April
If the moderators or site owner are going to allow this sort of gratuitous advertising, maybe we ought to start a special thread where all restaurants and local businesses can advertise their businesses.

As I have said before, I don't see a problem. It is good to see what is going onBruce Wallis wrote:If the moderators or site owner are going to allow this sort of gratuitous advertising, maybe we ought to start a special thread where all restaurants and local businesses can advertise their businesses.
Re: Majas reopens on 1st April
We would just like to thank everyone who turned out in the awful weather we had yesterday to join us for our re-opening night.
We hope that you enjoyed the evening as much as we did. It was a great start to the new season with a full house - we just forgot how tiring it can be!!!
We would also like to apologise to all those people who wanted to come along but we couldn't accommodate as we were fully booked. We are now open for the season so hope to see you soon.
Here is wishing all businesses in Carvoeiro a very successful season xx

I agree and ask them to make a donation to a local charity.Bruce Wallis wrote:If the moderators or site owner are going to allow this sort of gratuitous advertising, maybe we ought to start a special thread where all restaurants and local businesses can advertise their businesses.

Please note that algarvedriver.com will match price and conditions from any other company*, now with further advantages;
Price match credit card prices, with a further 3% discount if cash payment.
Bonus days are now earned even on price matches.
Along with the usual advantages such as payment only upon delivery, free cancellations and amendments.
*except July and August - reason being many brokers overbook with unrealistic low prices and following are unable to deliver the car

Re: Majas reopens on 1st April
This is going nowhere.
This website, which is FREE to use, is owned by Steen who pays all the hosting and associated costs in running this website, the forum and all the other resources.
He is also owns the business of AlgarveDriver, which is an agent of YOR, so he is totally entitled to recoup his investment in Carvoeiro.com by whatever means HE considers suitable.
This is not a website owned and paid for by committee.
Of course, there is always amusing and boisterous debate by all and sundry on how it should be run, and that is generally healthy banter, and opinions are interesting - even if sometimes we disagree on them.

How can this possibly be regarded as advertising ??Bruce Wallis wrote:If the moderators or site owner are going to allow this sort of gratuitous advertising, maybe we ought to start a special thread where all restaurants and local businesses can advertise their businesses.
I have zero financial interest in Majas - I don't work there, I don't own it, they didn't ask me to create this thread or even know I was going to do it.
I just figured some people might be interested in the fact that they were opening again after being closed for a couple of months.

And isn't it just brilliant to see that spring has sprung and the places are opening up again for another sunny season. Good luck to all the hard working restaurant/bar owners who make Carvoeiro come alive, looking forward to visiting a few next week

Re: Majas reopens on 1st April
... Are we no longer allowed to mention resturants now on this forum? As Octupus says , he has no interest in the place, financial or other. Gary and I have frequented this place since they have opened and got to know Mark and Jan pretty well over the years. Since when are we not allowed to mention resturants in our review? BSJ has just done a whole review on what she ate and where. For goodness sake what is this forum coming too. It's great to see that the old favourite restaurants in the village are still around and doing just fine after a hard couple of years trying to survive. Give everyone a break and embrace we still have our lovely CVO to come back to and enjoy.

Re: Majas reopens on 1st April
Here's an idea - folks can do their reviews without mentioning the restaurant name - then others must guess which restaurant it is - without mentioning the restaurants they are guessing - bit of a flaw there admittedly.e-richard wrote:Of course you are.Gary/Gaynor wrote:... Maybe use anagrams - Ma-Jas (apologies for mentioning the name) could be Jasam - easy.
Tia Ilda (apologies again) - Datail
Martins Grill (not apologising anymore) - Millart Rings
A Gale - Aglea
Mama Mia - Am Miama
Maxims - Simmax
O Boteca - Ace Boot
Elliots - Stollie
Stone Steak - Kate to Ness
.... then we would not be advertising (which is good) and people looking in will have no idea what we're talking about (another flaw admittedly).
