Thanks James, for giving me some hope. She is so nervous when she is outside, she is even frightened of Magpie's and hides under the car if they are around.

James, I don't want to upset you but hasn't anyone told you yet that cats don't know if anything has happened? unless London cat's are in some way different to our conniving species. cats don't give a sh1t for anyone apart from themselves, they just do what they want, always have and always will.
They go out to get their oats every six months or so, that's why they disappear, you don't think they're going to tell their owners that do you? I dunno! :)

Tricky, when push comes to shove, your cat's natural instincts soon snap into place should she be lost, and will easily survive being a natural predator! My cat was abandoned by her owner and left her to fend on the streets until I took her in!

It is extremely likely she has been taken in by another person/family and is living the life of riley. She will be back! :)
