Marisqueira
We tried Marisqueira this week, mainly for convenience and it was excellent. I had the sea bass and it was as good as I've had anywhere in Portugal. The service was good and friendly and they we were lucky to get in as it filled up very quickly. If you find yourself having to park at the top of Restaurant Hill, then save your legs and give it a go. It was also vety busy at lunchtime. Food was cooked outside on a charcoal grill.

Re: Marisqueira
Dam, you have let the cat out of the bag, now we will never be able to get in.
Re: Marisqueira
You really do need to book even out of the main season. We have been using this this restaurant for about 15 years now, usually at least once each visit apart from when they are closed from late November to late February (holidays in Brazil sometimes). Over 4 or 5 visits a year when open we have only had one disappointing meal; not bad going really! Last meal there was on 13 October, next on 18 November and looking forward to the sole!
Re: Marisqueira
We always tried to keep this one quiet.
Re: Marisqueira
Sorry. Maybe should have kept quiet
Re: Marisqueira
THE most underrated restaurant in Cvo.
Worth the walk (or, for me, trotting down the stairs of my apartment and onto their terrace ...)

Re: Marisqueira
but how do you manage the stairs after a couple of bottles of wine and port
Re: Marisqueira
Well, I go back to the bar next door after my meal, and by the time I have finished there, I can't remember how I have got back upstairs.

Re: Marisqueira
Where is this restaurant? Out next week and would like to try somewhere new. Thanks

You won't like it Rubydoo, give it a miss.Rubydoo wrote:Where is this restaurant? Out next week and would like to try somewhere new. Thanks
It's just up the hill from Barclays on the other side of the road, almost opposite the road to Algar Seco.
Re: Marisqueira
Thanks Laser. Looking forward to giving it a go.
Re: Marisqueira
It is directly opposite Villa Medici
There are 3 restaurants on that side of the road opposite the Algar Seco road. A Rede and the Vimar are the other two.
Re: Marisqueira
We all love the Marisqueira and the very friendly people working there. It is a nice place to eat with little children. Our Kathy got her own small grilled fish (ordered the evening before, so that Vitor could buy it at Portimao's fish market)
In spring and summer you better book a table in advance. During our last stay in CVO in September it was booked every evening from 7 pm on. And to be true, we already made our reservations for next august
PS: Marisquiera is closed on sundays!
