Recce Walk Thursday 23 January : Norinho

Post by Geoff »

I was shown some new variants of tracks in the hills the other day, which should form the basis of a new walk, so need to see if I can remember the route!

It will start off flat along the lavada , but then has a series of slopes, none too steep, with great views. After that the paths are good and there is a gentle descent.

Please note that if successful, it will be the walk we do on 3 February.

Duration : assume it willbe about 2.5 hours, +/-.....

Lunch : Not sure about staying for lunch, but Norinho is an ideal location for those that do. If the group is smallish, no need to book, but please state if you think you might want lunch.

The cafe has been tried and recommended : menu and size is limited but they do a good grilled meat or fish prata de dia. Optional lunch price is 8.5€ for chicken/pork/Carapau/chicken with chick peas but 12.5€ for Dorada......but please note new lunch price policy at viewtopic.php?f=39&t=27800 so , as no one will have any change, cost will be 10€ for chicken/pork etc and 15€ for dorada. We will need to order before the walk.

Degree of Difficulty ( scale 1:5 ) : probably grade 3, energetic.

Start: 1000.....but please arrive by 0945 if you want a coffee!

Directions : drive from Carvoeiro to Silves, go over the bridge and turn right and follow the N124 for about 3.2 kms until you see Cafe Casa de Pasto a Norinho on your left : park in layby opposite.

GPS : 37°12'20.6"N, 8°24'38.0"W
37.2057131N 8.4116553,312W

It is ESSENTIAL that you indicate below if you can come and whether you want lunch, as numbers will be limited to about 10 for a recce walk.

Walking boots/stout trainers recommended and walking poles.

Usual caveats - all walks are at your own risk, and we do not walk if it is pouring with rain...no charge, of course...I will endeavour to put any cancellation note on this site by 0830 on the day of the walk.

Any questions , please ask or ring 282 380015 preferably between 1800-1900 or 8am to 9am .

But the rest of us had a good one, especially the pork & beans prata de dia:

We got a bit worried when Luis thought the total of 7 meals meant 7 extra omelettes......

But all ended well, with coffees outside in the sun, though Wendy's coffee looked suspiciously like another glass of wine...

Thanks to all....a good tip for Luis and 5€ for the charity...and here's the map, thanks to Alan:
