Additional Walk 20 January - Vale Fuzeiros

Post by Dafmie »

This is a Classic CVO walk. It is circular, well marked and with a few hills. Walking boots/stout trainers recommended and walking poles.
Beautiful views, ancient menhirs & tombs!

Duration : about 2h00m

Degree of Difficulty ( scale 1:5 ) : 3, energetic.

Start: 10H00.....but please arrive by 09H45 if you want a coffee!

Dogs. Dogs are allowed as long as they are under control and are quiet.

Directions :

From CVO. Drive from CVO to Silves, go over the bridge and turn right and follow the N124 for about 7 kms until you see a turning on the left signposted "Barragem do Arade 3 kms".......the signpost is in a small triangular traffic island, which has a large palm tree on it. Drive in the direction of the Barragem for 1km when there is a cafe on the left ( A Rainha): turn right, signposted Canestros and Gregorios.
Drive through both Canestros and Gregarios for 3kms then make a sharp left turn, almost doubling back on yourself.
Drive for 2kms until you come to a T junction at the top of the hill, turn right , drive through the village and the O Gralha is one of the last buildings on the left. Please park opposite.

From Albufeira. From Albufeira and the East, take the IC1 road towards Lisbon. Exit on the N124 towards Messines and Silves. A few kilometres after Messines, make a sharp right turn towards Amorosa and Vale Fuzeiros. Follow signs to Vale Fuzeiros. The restaurant is on the right hand side at the entrance to the village.

GPS : 37.253041, -8.3466379,297

It is ESSENTIAL that you indicate below if you can come and whether you want lunch, as numbers will be limited to about 20. Thank you.
Walking boots/stout trainers recommended and walking poles.

Usual caveats - all walks are at your own risk, and we do not walk if it is pouring with rain...no charge, of course...I will endeavour to put any cancellation note on this site by 0830 on the day of the walk.

David, when I signed up I didn't realize that Geoff had already marked me down - I hadn't bothered to check his final list.
I'll be on Geoff's walk so you can release my spot if anyone else needs it.

Thanks!

Don.
