Walk Monday 2 December 2019 : Vale Fuzeiros. CLOSED
Posted: Wed Oct 09, 2019 5:18 pm
Walk is now closed.
PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF WALK AND RESTAURANT
This is an old favourite, done last in Nov 2018 and then not since 2016. It is circular, well marked and here are a couple, or so, of uphill stretches...actually, about 6....some quite steep, with loose shale. Walking boots/stout trainers recommended and walking poles.
Beautiful views, ancient menhirs & tombs!
The main reason for the change though, is to return to the O Gralha which has recently reopened and was very good! Menu is 9.5€ but we'll make it 12€ pp to include a tip and some cash for the charity please.
Duration : about 2h 15m
Degree of Difficulty ( scale 1:5 ) : 3, energetic.
Start: 1000.....but please arrive by 0945 if you want a coffee!
Dogs. Dogs are allowed as long as they are under control and are quiet.
Directions : drive from CVO to Silves, go over the bridge and turn right and follow the N124 for about 7 kms until you see a turning on the left signposted "Barragem do Arade 3 kms".......the signpost is in a small triangular traffic island, which has a large palm tree on it.
It may be easier to meet here at 09:25.....the start of the walk is another 10 minutes drive away.
If you want to meet at the start of the walk itself, then drive in the direction of the Barragem for 1km when there is a cafe on the left ( A Rainha): turn right, signposted Canestros and Gregorios.
Drive through both Canestros and Gregarios for 3kms then make a sharp left turn, almost doubling back on yourself.
Drive for 2kms until you come to a T junction at the top of the hill, turn right , drive through the village and the O Gralha is one of the last buildings on the left. please park opposite.
GPS : 37.253041,-8.3466379,297
It is ESSENTIAL that you indicate below if you can come and whether you want lunch, as numbers will be limited to about 20. Thank you.
Please also state if you want to meet at the turn-off.
Walking boots/stout trainers recommended and walking poles.
Usual caveats - all walks are at your own risk, and we do not walk if it is pouring with rain...no charge, of course...I will endeavour to put any cancellation note on this site by 0830 on the day of the walk.
Any questions , please ask or ring 282 380015 preferably between 1800-1900 or 8am to 9am but not before 23 October.
