A break from the rain, as cnice walking day with some sun and a few clouds. Most of the 21 walkers enjoyed a quick coffee break at Cafe Andre en route , and we started earlier than usual as the recce took 2h55m.
Russell was determined to trim this to 2.5 hours and set off at a cracking pace, forcing many to strip half way up the first hill:
I had made a big play of the 2 water crossings...on the way out , but also on the way back....but I hadn't expected them to have been replaced with concrete bridges!
For reference, this is what it looked like before:
I forgot to take a group photo with lovely views from the top, so had to do one at the bottom by the old farmhouse:
Keen observers will notice the absence of 2 ladies, who had better remain nameless, exploring the back of the ruins for some reason....
Anyway, back to the cars in 2 h 35 mins...though Russell was a few minutes ahead of me. Much discussion ensued about how SLOW the recce team was : I could only remember Ken being on it. However, look at the photo again and you see that Russell was a recce team member. He's obviously speeded up over the years! For info, the recce report from Feb 2017 is at :

Anyway, back to the O Tasco, for a nice beer in the sun , where Russell acted as unpaid waiter and took everyone's orders:
I forget to take a photo of the very good lunch for 19, ( av 11€ pp) , but here's a couple more of the outside:
Just over 12k, 2h 35 m. Will definitely include it, and the O Tasco, again.

Just realised why we were 20 mins quicker......if 7 people ford a stream on stepping stones individually, it must take 30+ secs per person, so 3.5mins per crossing : 4 crossings means 14/15 mins...so only 5 mins quicker overall, now the bridges are there!
