Walk Tuesday 13 November 2018 : Beyond Funcho. CLOSED
Posted: Wed Sep 26, 2018 6:46 pm
Walk is now closed as we have enough people.
I am taking a bit of a gamble that this walk will be OK from a fire perspective.....coupled with the fact that I have just heard the the cafe has re-opened. Not sure whether under new management or not, so will have to wait and see....It's closed on a Monday, hence the change of day.
It is the other side of the Funcho, a lovely river walk, great countryside and a bit of a scramble up a bank. There is some tarmac early on, the amount depending on how high the river/reservoir water is and thus how much of the track is submerged. It does contain one longish hill, not too steep.
There isn't a coffee shop/restaurant nearby, but we'll be having a coffee at the O Guerreiro at 0930 and ordering lunches, so come and join us there if you need some caffeine....or would rather follow us to the start of the walk!
The restaurant is not very large, and last time we went, they asked us to pre-order...so please join us there at 0930, even if you don't want a coffee, to choose lunch! (That is, if you want lunch).
It is ESSENTIAL that you indicate below if you can come as numbers will be limited to about 20. Thank you. Also, whether you want lunch.
Degree of difficulty : Grade 3 Energetic
Duration just over 2 hours .
Start : 1000...but coffee at cafe at 0930
GPS : 37.2738947,-8.3141676,605
Directions : Drive from CVO to Silves, go over the bridge and turn right and follow the N124 for about 14 kms , passing signs for Nora and Benaciate (on the right) and Torres/Corte (on your left). Watch out for the O Guerreiro , where we will be having coffee. It is easily missed. It's on the right, on a slight left hand bend, GPS 37.247962,-8.3170429,605.
After passing the cafe, after 500m, look out for the sign " Vale de Fuzeiros and Amorosa" and turn left.
Drive through Amarosa and follow signs to " Passadeuos, Pedreiras, Vale de Fuzeiros".
Go through the hamlet of Pedreiras , ignore the turning on the left to Vale Fuzeiros.
You then should shortly come to a bridge ; park by the picnic benches before you cross the bridge.
Lunch: this is optional, but will be 10€, and at Casa de Pasto O Guerreiro a short drive away......but please note new lunch price policy at viewtopic.php?f=39&t=27800
Walking boots/stout trainers recommended and walking poles.
Usual caveats - all walks are at your own risk, and we do not walk if it is pouring with rain...no charge, of course...I will endeavour to put any cancellation note on this site by 0830 on the day of the walk.
Any questions , please ask or ring 282 380015 preferably between 1800-1900 or 8am to 9am but not before 23 October.
