This is a variant on an old faithful, but with a new steepish and longish uphill climb. We have yet to check it out ourselves since we were shown it, so we shouldn't get (too) lost , so be aware that part of the walk is a recce!

Degree of difficulty ( scale 1 to 5 ) : 3, energetic......now 3.5 or almost 4 , but only for 50 yards!

Duration : about 2.5 hours

Directions:From CVO, go over Silves bridge and right on N124 for about 4.9kms, driving past 2 cafes, one called " Casa de Pasta a Norinha" and one " Taberna da Norinha" , both on the left hand side of the road.

Turn left at a sign saying " Pedreira , Pinheiro e Garrado" and drive 0.4kms : turn left and meet at Cafe Retiro dos Pescadores. Please do not park right in front of the cafe : there is limited parking on the opposite side of the road, but best to park after you turn off the N124 but before you actually turn left.

NB Do NOT turn left on N124 at the earlier sign saying just " Pinheiro e Garrado" , which is before the 2 cafes.

Co-ordinates; N37.214343, W8.394780

Start :1000.

Wear stout trainers/walking boots....a walking pole would be useful. Sunhats hopefully recommended, but some wet weather gear might come in handy.

Please note that the walk will be cancelled of the weather is poor. I shall put a note on this website at about 0830 that morning, 0900 at the latest.

All walks at your own risk.
There is no charge.
Please indicate below if you are intending to come, as numbers may have to be limited.

We will not be organising any lunch, but can recommend local restaurants. The cafe should be open for a pre-walk coffee and post walk beer!

Any questions, please ask or ring 282 380015, before 0900 or after 6pm but not before 15 May.

Hi all

So, walk is ON but please bring some rain gear!

Hope to see you all there

Who would have though that pouring rain at 0600 would be followed by blue skies and sunshine, with just a bit of breeze, when we let at 1015, due to some lingering over coffees.
The new part of the walk was a bit overgrown : must bring machete or secateurs next time!
However, everyone managed it Ok, even though the last 50 yards was quite steep. Consensus was that its a 3.5 or 4 grade!
I also managed to find the way back OK, so it can be considered a good recce, and another walk for the collection.

Bit longer at 2h 49m , but it just made the cold Sagres taste even better : 11.1km according to Lynne.

Her's the group at the top, with the Arade in the background:

I think 6 went to the Norinho for what I suspect was a good lunch!.....and another 5€ for the ADL funds.
