Charity Walk & Lunch : Saturday 6 January 2018
Charity Walk & Lunch : Saturday 6 January 2018
Something a bit different to start the new year. Our friends and fellow CVO Walkers " back in the Day" , Su & Mike, have started a charity to help local Portuguese Families. As part of their fund raising activities, they are organising a walk ( see below) and lunch. The cost will be 10€ to include the lunch.
Please sign-in below if you want to come or email Su on : su.davis@sapo.pt
Further details of charity are at : http://www.facebook.com/groups/1889562931361792/
It is a walk by the confluence of the Arade and the Odelouca. Around the Ilha do Rosario with beautiful views .It should take just over 2 hours & is easy.
Distance about 9km or 5 miles. It is similar to the "Sunflower Landscapes" walk or the Julie Stratham walk .
The Mira Rio Cafe/Restaurant does a good Prato de Dia .
Start : 10.00
Degree of difficulty: mainly flat, grade 1 ( scale 1:5)
Directions: from CVO , cross the bridge into Silves & turn left on the R124towards Montchique/Portimao. After a little under 5 km you will see the Mira Rio cafe & restaurant on your left after a sharpish right hand bend. Parking is at the cafe.
Stout trainers/boots & a bottle of water suggested! Take your binoculars if you are a bird watcher. A walking pole is certainly useful......if the weather changes, bring some wet weather gear but I expect they won't be walking if it's really wet!
Any cancellation notice will be posted by 0830/0900 on the day.
All walks are at your own risk.

That's great, see you tomorrow.....Mike & Su
Re: Charity Walk & Lunch : Saturday 6 January 2018
Thanks very much to Su and Mike for organising the walk and such gorgeous weather this morning - sunshine and clear blue skies followed by excellent 7.50E lunch. Very handy to be shown the route ‘over the top’ which we hadn’t done before - fabulous views across to Monchique hills. Look forward to seeing the photo(s) when Sue has a chance to upload them.
Hope the day raised a good figure for the charity and best wishes for your future activities on that score - a very worthwhile cause.

Thank you so much Alison, Jim, David and Diane (and Geoff) for your support, so glad you enjoyed the walk and the lunch. Everyone was really generous and the charity made 90€ Amazing! and this is enough to provide glasses for 2 more children needing them (with parents who can not afford to pay for them.) Unfortunately all the photos I took (with Mike's old phone -blame him) turned out to be videos, thankfully there is only one which I didn't take and here it is. Thank you everyone for a brilliant day.
