WALK - MONDAY 23 OCTOBER 2017 - RIBBA A TORRINHA

Post by Linda and Russell »

RIBBA A TORRINHA, on the way to Monchique. Distance 10kms, approximately 2 1/2 hours. Meeting Point: Café Casa De Pasto Riba E Serra Time: 10:00.
Russell and Linda have volunteered to guide this walk. There are a couple of steep climbs, and one short steep descent, therefore it is a grade 3 walk.
This is in very picturesque countryside in a remote area. The usual Geoff rules apply, wear suitable footwear, no charge, walk at your own risk etc. If you would like to join us please add your name below. Directions to meeting point: Follow the N125 towards Portimao then turn off and follow the signs for Monchique. At the roundabout take the left turning for Monchique (N266). At the village of Rasmalho you will see the Café Casa De Pasto Riba E Serra on your left. Park on the right-hand side of the road, opposite the café. The café is open for coffee and they also do a very traditional Portuguese lunch for anyone who wishes to join us after the walk, cost around 8.50 euros for 2 courses with drinks. We will drive up to the starting point of the walk which is around 3/4kms further along near the brown sign on the right Riba A Torrinha.
The phone contact on the day will be 0044 7960552618.

Hi,
My dad and I would love to join this walk. But we have a transportations challenge. We have to vacate the house for new guests on the Monday and will therefor have no means of transportation. Does anyone drive from Carvoeiro with space to give us a lift?

Hi Linda & Russell,
It looks like we are going to have to give this walk a miss :( we are so far behind with the new dog shelters that we'll have to get stuck in there.
Catch up with you both soon, Mike & Su

Linda reports :

"Another gorgeous day in the beautiful Algarve. After a few last minute cancellations and Noah and Paula unable to find the correct café for the meeting point, six of us had a very enjoyable walk through the eucalyptus trees. There were no houses, no cars, no dogs or any other people during the 2hours 20minute, 10km stroll. The same group of six had a very enjoyable Portuguese lunch with drinks for 7 euros per person. The group consisted of Linda, Russell, Wendy, Rose, David, Meeka."
