Walk Monday 13 November 2017 : Norinho/Enxerim. CLOSED
Walk Monday 13 November 2017 : Norinho/Enxerim. CLOSED
Walk is now closed as we have enough people.
This is a newish approach to an old walk...it's flat along the lavada, has 5 minutes of back road and then is all on country tracks, many of them uphill but with quite a long climb in the early stages,(about ten/fifteen minutes) up some scree, and is quite steep in places ; but after that the paths are good and there is a gentle descent, along with some lovely views.
The cafe has been tried and recommended : menu is limited but they do a good grilled meat or fish prata de dia for 7.5€ when we were there last.....lunch is, of course, optional.
Degree of Difficulty ( scale 1:5 ) : the steep climb makes that part a grade 4 ( strenuous) but the rest is overall grade 2 or 2.5.
Start:10.00 am
Directions : drive from Carvoeiro to Silves, go over the bridge and turn right and follow the N124 for about 3.2 kms until you see Cafe Casa de Pasto a Norinho on your left : park in layby opposite.
GPS : 37°12'20.6"N, 8°24'38.0"W
37.2057131N 8.4116553,312W
Usual caveats: all walks are at your own risk, and we do not walk if it is pouring with rain.....I will endeavour to put any cancellation note on this site by 0830 on the day of the walk.
Walking boots/stout trainers , walking pole(s), hats and water recommended. No charge, of course.
Please indicate below if you can come as numbers are limited.......the cafe is not very large either, so please state if you would want lunch.

Re: Walk Monday 13 November 2017 : Norinho/Enxerim. CLOSED
Another glorious November day...blue skies, no clouds, bit of a breeze, about a balmy 20C....18 walkers on 2 legs, 2 on 4 , firstly along the lavada :
(btw if you can only see part of the photo on your computer/laptop/tablet/phone or whatever, with a scroll bar at the side, click anywhere in the picture, then it expands to full size and the scroll bars vanish)
and then up the steep hill :
to the gloriously sunny uplands:
woops, Graeme, not Graham!...and woops-woops, Colin not Clive : the altitude must have got to me...sorry gents!
where there was water for the 4 legged friends...
Having a senior moment, I had forgotten the optional trig point climb ( much to the relief of some) , but on the way back an astute Jim noticed that the new firebreaks were all directly under the electricity cables:
and thence back to the cafe, where our jack-of-all-trades owner served beers, cooked lunch and waited on table:
A good lunch was enjoyed by 15 of us , 8.5€ for chicken/pork etc, 10€ dorado:
with one-for-the-road for Sharon...
2h 40m.....10.2km, 332m ascent, according to Colin, which sounds & felt about right.
