Directions: from CVO , cross the bridge into Silves & turn left on the R124 towards Montchique/Portimao. After a little under 5 km (along an incredibly bumpy road) you will see the Mira Rio cafe & restaurant on your left after a sharpish right hand bend. Parking is at the cafe. They do a good Prata de Dia for about 8€ for those that are hungry!
Stout trainers/boots & a bottle of water suggested! Take your binoculars if you are a bird watcher.

Well, I'm sure it's better than the icy blasts we are getting back here, trust you had a good walk...(and didn't loose anyone)...and a good lunch.Weather looks fine, a wee bit cloudy so we are go!
What, no piccies?.....who were the other 2 walkers then please, other than you & Carole, Ken & Sue, Brian & Janice ?......and what's this I hear about Ken and a sluice gate?Eight of us on the walk
Oi, that was a secret between you and me! .Geoff wrote:What, no piccies?.....who were the other 2 walkers then please, other than you & Carole, Ken & Sue, Brian & Janice ?......and what's this I hear about Ken and a sluice gate?Eight of us on the walk
A sluice gate was balanced in the open position by two rocks. I demonstrated the mechanism and one fell off so I crossed the lavada to get another, which I used to re balance it. However, I still had to return and in doing so tipped the balance meaning that both rocks fell in. That meant a second trip for two more rocks and a more careful return crossing.
For some reason my escapades provided some amusement to the rest of the walkers!
Well, it made me laugh and I wasn't even there...thought for one dreadful moment you were going to say you fell in & crocked the other arm!For some reason my escapades provided some amusement to the rest of the walkers!
