Walk wednesday 29 March 2017 : Norinho/Agua Bellas
Walk wednesday 29 March 2017 : Norinho/Agua Bellas
Hi all
PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF DATE FROM SATURDAY 25 MARCH and Thursday 30 March DUE TO LACK OF SUPPORT...better luck with this date??
Having found a good new starting point for walks ( & a good finishing point with a good lunch) I want to see if I can link up with part of the Agua Bellas walk...the one we have done from Cafe Terinho.
Whilst it's flat along the lavada to start, and has 5 minutes of back road , it is then all on country tracks......with one steep and long hill and plenty of other ups and downs. The valley will no doubt have a reasonable amount of water in the streams, but they should be easily fordable using stepping stones.
Duration might be quite long...that is why I want to recce it....probably 2h 30 mins - 2h 45 mins, possibly 3 hours.
The cafe has been tried : menu is limited but they do a good grilled meat or fish prata de dia for 7.5€....lunch is, of course, optional.
Degree of Difficulty ( scale 1:5 ) : probably 3......strenuous/energetic
Start:10.00 am
Directions : drive from Carvoeiro to Silves, go over the bridge and turn right and follow the N124 for about 3.2 kms until you see Cafe Casa de Pasto a Norinho on your left : park in layby opposite.
GPS : 37°12'20.6"N, 8°24'38.0"W
37.2057131N 8.4116553,312W
Usual caveats: all walks are at your own risk, and we do not walk if it is pouring with rain.....I will endeavour to put any cancellation note on this site by 0830 on the day of the walk.
Walking boots/stout trainers , walking pole(s), hats and water recommended. No charge, of course.
Please indicate below if you can come as numbers are limited.......the cafe is not very large either, so please state if you would want lunch......as it's a recce walk, I will probably limit numbers to about 10.

A glorious day, we were joined by Ken & Miriam...and Bica. setting off at a good pace, we passed some young foals:
Before tackling the longest and steepest climb:
Then down to the beautiful Agua Belas valley, where fortunately the water levels weren't too high, with Bica showing the way:
though Sue did her own thing, rather than get her feet wet, and nearly got lost till Paul rescued her!
Bica seemed fascinated by the little frogs jumping around, but couldn't catch one!
Back to the cafe for a well earned beer and all stayed for a good lunch.
a successful recce, thanks to all who came...bit long at 3h 20m, but should be OK as an occassional walk....certainly grade 3.5 !
