Walk Monday 13 February 2017 : Barragem Arade
Walk Monday 13 February 2017 : Barragem Arade
Another walk not attempted for a year!
A relatively new walk for CVO Ramblers.....whilst it has been done in just over 2 and a half hours, the last couple of times have been much slower at 3 hours 5 mins! Along the side of the Barragem , up quite a long and step hill ( but plenty of opportunities to stop & admire the views ), down to the valley bottom and back along a flat path. There is a stream to cross but there are plenty of stepping stones.
Degree of Difficulty ( scale 1:5 ) : 3 Energetic
Start:10.00 am
Directions : drive from Carvoeiro to Silves, go over the bridge and turn right and follow the N124 for about 7 kms until you see a turning on the left signposted "Barragem do Arade 3 kms".......the signpost is in a small triangular traffic island, which has a large palm tree on it.
Drive in the direction of the Barragem for 1km where there is a cafe ( A Rainha) on the left: carry on another km or so and park opposite the cafe " O Ze"......please note, this is a white building on the left , but the last time we were there , the sign had been taken down for refurbishment and might not have been put back by then ....but this is what it should look like;
https://www.google.pt/maps/@37.233532,- ... !2e0?hl=en
Usual caveats: all walks are at your own risk, and we do not walk if it is pouring with rain.....I will endevour to put any cancellation note on this site by 0830 on the day of the walk.
Walking boots/stout trainers , walking pole(s), hats and water recommended. No charge, of course.
Please note that the cafe O Ze should be open , though it seems to be the only cafe in the Algarve that doesn't have any milk, so we will try & remember to bring some if people want a coffee with milk!
Please indicate below if you can come as last year we had to limit numbers to 20.
We will no doubt have a beer or coffee at the O Ze after, but will probably go to the Casa de Vinho in Fuzeiros for lunch for those that want it. Prato de Dia is 8€. about a 10 minute drive.
Please advise if you want lunch as I shall need to book if >10.

Re: Walk Monday 13 February 2017 : Barragem Arade
Jim & Gill hope to make it.
The weather forecast for monday looks a bit better than the weekend, but decidedly "iffy".....I strongly suggest you bring rain gear!
Unless it's raining heavily, I'll probably still be there (Sue will have gone back for grandma duties) ......if anyone cares to join me in a damp walk but a hot lunch......but, fingers crossed it will be dry!
