MONDAY, 30th APRIL: PORCHES TO ALBANDEIRA

Post by williew » Thu Mar 29, 2018 8:02 pm

On Monday 30th April we will do the Porches to Albandeira walk, a local walk to Carvoeiro.

This is a superb walk of great variety, starting off through a hamlet, then crossing the dunes, then through a valley to the cliffs between Marinha and Albandeira Beaches then back through the valley. A camera is a must if you have not seen the cliffs! It is no more than a 1 on our scale but there is the occasional short sharp climb.

The start point is the Cafe/Restaurant known as Casa de Pasto Paragem. Coming from CVO take the N125 heading east towards Faro. Go past the International School and the new roundabout for Benagil and pass the two BP garages. Just after this take the first right off the ‘Porches’ roundabout heading uphill for Porches & Armacao de Pera. There is another roundabout where you keep right for Armacao de Pera. Keep on this main road and after about 1/2 mile you will come to open ground on the right side then the Casa de Pasto Paragem. There is a lot of open ground for parking opposite.

Geoff's usual caveats apply, (especially you walk at your own risk)
Start : 10am start.
Degree of Difficulty ( scale 1:5 ) : 1, easy
Duration : 2 hours 10 mins, but depending on how long we admire the views.

Carol & I will probably find a spot for lunch, either in Casa Paragem or somewhere else local.

If you wish to join us then please leave a note on this forum.

Hi Willie. Sue and I would like to join you for the walk. We won't stay for lunch as we have house guests. See you both then if not before. We arrive on 14th.

We started off in the rain but it did not last long and finished in the dry. A total of 15 walkers and four dogs. Willie & Carol, Bruce, Ken & Sue, Paul (a newcomer, friend of Ken & Sue and Hemingways regular), Wendy, Ray & Sandra, Jenny, Mike (a newcomer, a friend of Wendy and Hemingways regular), Steve & Wendy, Mags & Jenny. No pics I am afraid!
The beach hut at Albandeira Beach is no longer so no beers en route.
2hrs 10 mins.
Later on a lazy, boozy lunch at PdE with Willie & Carol, Bruce & Julia, Gordon & Sandy, Wendy & Mike.
Good day!
