Walk Monday February 6, 2012 : Vale de Lapa

Post by Geoff »

A new walk!.....and a more gentle 2 hour walk after the exertions of Vale Fuzeiros.

Meet in the carpark of the Carvoeiro Tennis Club at 1000, map is at:
http://www.tenniscarvoeiro.com/gallery/roadmap.html

Basically, driving out of CVO and before you get to the petrol station, turn left up the zigzag hill and then right at the top at the T junction. Drive past L'Orange restaurant on your right and Monte Santo development on your left. At the roundabout, follow signs and go straight over. The club is about 200 yards on the right....the floodlight towers are visible from some distance!

Walk will be through some lightly wooded areas and some cliff tops, with lovely views. Stout trainers or boots and walking poles are recommended.
The walk is largely flat, but there is a valley to cross and a longish upward climb towards the end.

No charge, of course.

Any queries , ring on 282 380015 before 0930.

We will not be walking should the weather break and take a turn for the worse.

Hope to see friends old and new. It would be helpful to indicate if you are coming.

Hello Geoff,

That sounds like a good idea, will try to convince "a mina chefe" to participate as she likes rather the downhill walks than upward climbs.

See you on monday

We had lovely weather and a record turnout of 23 , despite Forrester not being able to make it......along with Rob and Maureen who had a most original excuse! Everyone survived this new walk, though some were a bit anxious about the descent into the valley!
We also welcomed our yougest walker, Joana , but as she tok the photo, I am afraid we can't show her.....my aplogies to Gerrit for misnaming him Jerrit, but i couldn't face redoing the texts on the photo, so have tried to overwrite. I do hope all names and faces are aligned!
Great to see new and old friends for our last walk of the Spring. Hope to catch up again in May.
In the meantime, Bruce has volunteered to do one next week, other volunteers?.....you just need a 2-2.5 hour walk, circular, ending at a cafe!
