Restaurants in Lagoa and other areas

Post by tricky »

To my knowledge in Lagoa there are a few restaurants. Chrissys, the dark one down the alley near chrissys and Carlos ( or something similar not far from the swimming pool. For such a large town, there must be others. ( I forgot la casuarina on the main road). When I see on Facebook, Portuguese friends celebrating birthdays etc they always seem to be at restaurants we do not recognise. Are they keeping some as a secret? Has anyone got any Intel about local Portuguese restaurants that are not normally mentioned on here ?

O'Ciclo in Lagoa is very good for fish or meat, managed by Portuguese father and son. Excellent wine selection. If you go to your internet search engine and type in "Trip Advisor reviews O'Ciclo Lagoa" you will see the ratings. Hope this link will work for you which has the address, phone number and a map.

Our favourite restaurant in Lagoa is Lamim, it even impressed Bruce W!

Dishes to go for are clams, either on their own as a starter, or with pork. A big favourite of ours is their baby sole, cooked with potatoes and garlic!

Also, ask for their dipping cheese with your couvert!

Very traditional.

A lot more if you count the 4 around the junction with Lagoa roundabout, ( Tia Rosa, Paletta, Chinese/Japanese, Casarao) . Then Chinese in walking street. Plus a couple in the new centre near the GNR/ centro Saude. Also a couple in Lagoa between the road to Silves and the lower road out of Lagoa towards Poco Barreto,

Our favourite restaurants in the area are Lamim and O'Ciclo - food good in both and we are well looked after. We have recently discovered Ponto de Encontro but otherwise head to Lagoa

There used to be a typical portugesa restaurant in estombar I believe but we never found it. Is there anywhere in parchal ?
Also I see that the crazy chicken, near Boa Vista has opened as a Portuguese restaurant. Anyone been yet ?

Try Tia Rosa opposite Pingo Doce before the Lagoa cross roads, good varied menu for both fish and meats also does Cataplana for one, their warm bread cobs are to die for !! easy parking relaxed atmosphere just chill, nothing too much trouble, family owned for the last 30 years by Silva and Rosa, used to be very popular with the Rocha Brava
Carvoeiro tennis set, also the Algarve Automobile Association used to have their annual presentation evening there. Give it a try you will not be disappointed.

We had a lovely meal at O Leao de Porches, it is in a lovely setting and the food and service were excellent.
Especially nice during the winter months.
