A Rede

Post by roy4eyes »

In spite of e-Richard's insinuation that we only eat cheap, we went to A Rede last night and had an excellent meal in spite of the absence of Carlos - "viagra soup and no bones in the chocolate mousse" who was off sick.
The mussels in wine and garlic sauce to start were delicious local ones - not the awful New Zealand green lip frozen variety (although beautiful when fresh in New Zealand !!) - and on ordering steak the waiter commented that they were large and suggested sharing one :o . He was correct and we only just managed to finish the half steak which was 'melt in the mouth' tender and tasty.
With pastis aperitifs, cover, amuse bouche, starter, mains, strawberry dessert, coffee and liqueurs our bill came to just under 80 euros which we thought was excellent for the quality of food supplied.

This is another of our favourites. Always a warm welcome, good food, reasonable prices.

Just returned from 6 nights in CVO
Whilst I have always been loathe to use this restaurant due to the heckling, we succumbed on our last trip in Novemeber and loved it!
We had 2 excellent meals here on this trip and I hate to say, they are really nice, hardworking guys.
On both occasions the restaurant was full, which is a credit to them at this time of year.
Amazing, salmon, Sea bass, clams and chocolate cake!
