restaurant review February
We came over last month for 2 weeks of lovely sunshine and good food, we do tend to use the restaurants we know but this time we did go to a couple of new ones for us.
We would have liked to go to Brasserie Marina but unfortunately they were closed until the day after we left!
We did go to Vimar at the top of restaurant hill and had a couple of very good value, good quality meals there. It isn't 'posh' standard but very acceptable for a good meal and wine for around 15 - 20 Euro a head for a 2 course meal and a couple of glasses each of house wine plus bottled water.
We tried for the first time Villa Medici and was impressed, good service, great food and good wine, reasonable prices mid range costs. For someone who is not that keen on Italian food I really enjoyed it.
We had a couple of really lovely meals, as usual, at Casa do bife, always a favourite with us and we have never been disappointed.
We went into Porches and tried Mr Grillo, this had been taken over by new people and was opened again last December, the steaks there are just fantastic and this is one we will use again and again as it is close to our property. Good food, good wine and not too bad price wise, again mid range costs.
One of our very, very favourite places to go is O Alambique on the N269 just outside Silves at Poco Barreto. Run by a lovely German lady called Marlen. The food is to die for, great place, somewhere to go to for a really special meal or just to treat yourself. They do a great 20 Euro menu on a Monday night with live music by Tuka (guitar and voice so nice and relaxing not noisy)
We are out again in April and it will be nice to go to some of our other favourite places which will be open by then.
