Via Italia

Post by fmm »

Under protest (I have a guest staying with me who went there 3 years ago and said it was the best meal he had ever had) we went. Having eaten at Maxims, Marisqueria, Stone Steak etc, we had had a variety of menus but good quality food and service.

The restaurant was sweltering. I asked for the aircon to be put on - they said it was. The unit read 34 degrees and during the hour we were there dropped as far as 33 degrees for a few minutes before going back up to 34. There were tables at the front but we were hidden away at the back.

Ordered Sangria. I like home made sangria but take home the Don Simon cheapo cartons for when I am in England. This was 12.50 for a 1.50 carton of Don Simon.

Not asked if we wanted the findus pancake or revolting salad thing. Actually, they were both revolting and my guest was alredy beginning to regret having wanted to come.

We did not eat the findus pancake but were charged for it anyway.

My pizza was vile. No idea what cheese was used It tasted a bit like a soggy cheese on toast. I ate less than half. No one asked if I was enjoying it. My guest had just over half of his order - and said he clearly must have been drunk the last time he came to the restaurant.

We asked for the bill as I was so hot by then I had sweat tricking down my back - 40 euros - which I thought was a disgrace. If the food had been edible, then that would have been a different matter. But it was awful.

Took 10 minutes of being ignored before we could persuade someone to come and collect the money.

What a dreadful place. I can't even say that it was a lovely setting due to being stuck so far back.

No - I did not complain. My view is tht if a kitchen does not know it is sending out dreadful food and they are the "professionals" then nothing I am going to say will change it. The kitchen simply sends out dreadful food. If anyone truly enjoys going to this place, then may I respectfully suggest you need to get out more!

The waiters were all very professional but seemed bored out of their minds and pretty miserable.

My only recommendation is to go with the rest of the majority of views on this forum, and avoid.

Thanks for that Fmm, I was wondering if it had improved and we were missing out, obviously not

This has to be the worst restaurant in Carvoeiro, by a country mile.

Even my wife, who is far more patient than me, insisted on walking out of there. The food was so awful.

If you think thats bad try Da Donato at Sesmarias

We had pizzas there a while ago - very average but edible - wine a total rip-off

We stupidly went back to try the pasta - my wife had salmon - it arrived 15 minutes before mine.
I could see it wasn't going well so i asked if i could try it - i've never spat food out before - it went half way accross the restaurant.

If there's a more foul disgusting plate of food on earth i hope i never get to taste it.

mine arrived - i'd only ordered lasagne - they certainly did no more than re-heat it , so why i waited so long god alone knows.

Much better than the salmon - tasted like dog food covered in clingfilm.

Never again
