Looking for a similar restaurant like O Lotus

Post by Roger A. »

Hi,

I haven't been to Carvoeiro for a couple of years but one of my favourite restaurants was O Lotus in Lagoa next to the gas station.
I really loved those typical traditional Portuguese courses that were on the menu.
However, regretfully I've learned that O Lotus has been closed for quite some time now.
Does anyone know of a restaurant with similar dishes?
I would very much appreciate it..

Kind regards,

Roger Alvorada

There are two that we have heard of that are a little different from the majosrity ?

Barradas on the old road to Silves and the Ponta Romana restaurant in Silves by the old Bridge.

Hi Emm,

Thanks for your reply.
O Barradas is also on my short list..;-) Although I must say that the menu has got different kinds of Portuguese specialties particurly in the meat department.
Anyhow, Ponta Romana is a new name for me. Will check it out.

They are chalk and cheese.

O'Barrada is excellent, quite expensive and up market.

Pont Roma is also excellent if you are looking for Portuguese "peasant food". Simple stews, of lamb, kid and clams. plat de jour , cataplana, and some grills.

We enjoy both......the one will cost 20 euros for 2 with wine, the other, 120.

Near to O Lotus is Tia Rosa which also does Portuguese food, as does A Paleta next to Pingo Doce. Silves has loads of places serving traditional fare - try Monchiqueiro (I and II) or Recanto dos Mouros behind the castle, it's always packed with local families.

Great, thank you for these tips, Ditzy. A Paleta I know, the guy is a friend of mine. I'll be sure to do my homework on the rest of them.

Kind regards,

Tia Rosa for me been going for over 20 years, plenty of choice, reasonably priced, never had a bad meal in all that time, also easy parking.
