There is a restaurant topic on ADM dining which is about Ponto De Encontro. We went for dinner a few times in March and found it very good. We were staying on ADM and when we went past on a lunchtime it was packed with the local workmen which is usually a good sign.

I believe that this is run by one of the sons from Escondidinho. It opened in Dec.

Can anyone tell me if this restaurant is likely to be open late October/early November? Thanks.

Jaoa runs the Ponto de Encontro, he used to run Escondidinho's : his brother Carlos now runs that .....their father Denis before them!

We like them both : P de E has a full a la carte , which can be a bit pricey, but they have a 9.5€ evening meal, which is essentially the same as Escondidinho's other than you get a pudding rather than a soup and it's 0.5€ more!

Personally, think the wine is better at Escondidinho's, but food and decor better at P de E.

P de E also have the uasual lunch time deal at 7.5€ and, when we were there, music on saturday night.
Both recommended.

Hi, I stayed on ADM from 11thDec'11 to 10th Jan'12 and went to this restaurant for a great and very reasonably priced evening meal - all inclusive for E9,50 - but found it had suddenly shut and was up for sale or rent from the 1st of Jan 2012! Dont know whats happened but seems a shame for somewhere that seemed really popular even with the local workmen, and that offered really good value.

The landlord put the rent up,dramatically, so Joao has left, we are all waiting to see if he takes another place with a sensible landlord.

A great shame....but Carlos is open at Escondidinho ; we had a superb pork casserole on opening night, price now 9.5€. Palmeira also do a good evening meal for 8.5€ ( up from 7.5€), all inclusive.

Coming over in early July, always stay on ADM, found this restaurant very handy, and the last owners always served
decent food with friendly service.
Any news on whether it has been taken on by anyone else.
