Where we have eaten so far this trip - July 3lst 2011

Post by tricky »

Our new favourites this year,
Fin Do Mundo (ferragudo) very good steaks and massive mixed grill, even my two boys couldn't finish it.
great service and reasonable prices, homemade deserts are wonderful, if you have the chance have the coconut mouse.
word of warning! - go easy on Jo's homemade grappa at the end of the meal (there are cobbles outside) :D

Portuguese restaurant further along the alley from Fin do Mundo, can never remember the name!, fantastic fish, great guy who runs it.

Porches Pottery Cafe, is lovely for lunch when you fancy home made quiches, salad and granary break type things, nice setting
and the shop sells pottery (never!)

Club Nau - Ferragudo beach (see under never again thread)

Chicken piri piri takeawy on in-road, as good as usual.

Two glasses of Champagne at Canieros beach with a friend, stands out as very special also.

Had lovely evening in Alvor sat in the harbour watching the sun set, great for people watching.

That's it for now, but plan to go to O Barrado on recomendation of Bruce and Julia, give Ele and Ela another go,
and try the new Villa Medici

Had dinner at Canieros beach, cannot be faulted. and Jan in square, okay.

Me neither..."Jan" was also a bit on the poor side, not impressed with the "nearly 10 euros for a bowl of noodles but we will call it fusion and get away with it" marketing approach....cafe fino (opposite the black stove) does a great scooby snack and good smoothies I thought.

I heard there is a new/recently opened restaurant called Brumar, or Brumars? I am told it is up near the Black Stove. Has anyone tried it out yet?

Yep, sounds like that is the one. Lots of fresh fish and Portuguese food. Has anyone tried it? I am back in September, will give it a visit then....

Sounds OK to me. Nice to have a good choice of fresh fish, instead of the stuff that has been hanging around our supermarkets in England for days on end!
