Vegeterian recommendations

Post by garcia11 »

Hi
I've asked this a couple of times in the last 5-6 years, but are there any restaurants folk would currently recommend for vegetarians like my wife? From previous visits we like Maximes, Elle & Ellas, Barnards, Casa Velha do Pescador and Village Inn. But is there anywhere new we should try when we're there 4-18 August?
Cheers

The obvious additions are Tia Ilda and Happy's, but I'd certainly want to add A Gale, which seems to just go from strength to strength and have added a vegetarian option to their menu. At that time of year, you'll need to book well ahead at all of these.

If you happen to be in Portimao you should try out Unicornio on Rua Diretia. Fantastic vegetarian food, and even nicer for the non veggies too.

Chrissy's in Lagoa near the market and Brasserie Marina are also both very good for veggie options.

Ma Ja's do a Veggie option, see eg of menu, this changes often and I'm sure Mark and Jan could prepare something.
Spicy Vegetable Fajitas
Pasta served with Stir-Fried Vegetables in a Pesto Sauce
Homemade Vegetable Tortilla
Homemade Valencian Paella for 2
I have attached the link, resturant is in CVO, off the beaten track as they say.

Seeing Canada's (scandalous) post reminded me of a big sign I saw recently in Banff, in Canada

HI dave , from a lovely day in Carvoeiro

Just read my menu for the village inn. It doesn't say when it opens and closes, however it does promote ' dining by our log fire in winter'
so hopefully Feb is classed as winter.
