Elle & Ella again

Okay here goes.

Elle & Ella reopened after a facelift on Thursday evening (17th Feb). We booked at Friday lunchtime for Friday evening. Arrived, no record of our booking but that wasn't a problem as their current reputation seems to precede them, a table for 4 was found immediately.

We asked for a wine recommendation to replace the one usually ordered but no longer available. The recommendation was good. ordered another bottle, it was as good as the first, ordered a third and they had ran out After just 2 bottles? Is it me?

Starter took an hour to arrive, tasteless and not worth waiting for. Main course rack of lamb for two of us was just rough. Left there feeling hungry and ripped off.

Won't be going back, it's just not worth it. Sorry anyone who rates this place.

Went there Saturday night. Had the house red which was fantastic and good value at Euro 6 for half bottle. We had the special fish dish which was corvinia(?) which was the best fish I´ve eaten in a long time. The service was fast, friendly and excellent. We booked but there were about 3 tables free for the evening and the rest were full. Everyone had a good time and were joking and laughing with the waiting staff. Again, another excellent meal and night out at Ele & Ela! And it came out at Euro 23 each. Admittedly we only had a main course, wine and water but that`s all we can fit in. GREAT!

I admit to beeing no great fan of ella and ele and certainly where ever we eat would not order corvinha, this is a cheap cheap basic fish, most of which is farmed. better known as channel bass, it ranks along side with carapau as being one of the staples of your E7,50 dish of the day fish courses.

If they would just get rid of that plastic greenhouse maybe then our opinion of the place would improve.

PS house wine at the Krazy Chicken E8 for 1ltr.

Whats that got to do with the food, they are trying to protect the clientel from the weather especially in the winter time.

Was there last Wed, food and service as good as ever. The new decoration is very nice and just ask for an inside Table if the plastic bothers you, in the summer it is nice sitting in the front when there is singing going on across the Road. Still one of the best in my opinion.

I am soooo pleased to say that we had a lovely meal here last night, having had a disappointing meal here a few weeks ago we really didn't want to give up on one of our favourite restaurants & paid them a visit last night, the food was delicious & the service was excellent, attentive & friendly. I had the beef carpaccio to start & H had the special starter which was similar to a ravioli stuffed with truffle & somehting else(?) & was absolutely gorgeous. Followed by lamb shank on a delicious mash for me & beef fillet with pink peppercorn butter for H cooked to perfection. I'm afraid H then went on to have the apple crumble, ice cream & cream which meant I had to virtually roll him home.
The terrace cover may not be very attractive from the outside but inside the restaurant was attractive, warm & cosy & you can see out very clearly.

My daughter and her husband were there last night, for her birthday supper.
It's her favourite restaurant....and yet again....it didn't disappoint
