The best I ever had was inland, but last time we went there the restaurant had closed down.

O Patio - over 45euro for 2 people - I suspect very good but a bit too pricy for my liking - Martins Grill 22euros but don't know how good. Mistral has shut - they used to be good.

Casa Palmeria for me too. Especially as it does a cataplana for one, and by far cheaper than O'patio's

A bit outside of Carvoeiro (near Rocha Brava) - nevertheless: O Rafaiol's Alfanzina.

With their cooking recipe we cook the cataplana at home by now...

Get a taxi to Ponte Romana, the restaurant on the olod roman bridge in Silves.
It may be worth the effort

Never liked Ponte Romana, catered for the expat masses usually. Faux Burns night, Country music, etc., Mediocre food. They must have come under new management. Will give it another go if it's as good as Bruce says it is now.
Cataplana - my daughter & I shared an excellent one at Caneiros beach, absolutely delicious.

The restaurant on Pintadinho beach also does an excellent cataplana

We always enjoy the one at Martins Grill overlooking the square. Bit pricey but good location!

Barco on Carvoeiro Square - excellent cataplana and not too expensive, perfect view and great service. Rei das Praias,Caneiros beach is also good, but need to book and drive!
