I use an online company called TransferWise. I have been using them for years and they are quick and charge far less than any other exchange companies. We do a lot of business in Europe and get paid in Euros- TransferWise has proven to be the best way of exchanging euros to Stirling or visa versa. Our Euro account and Stirling account are with the same branch of the same bank, yet TransferWise can convert at a much lower rate than the bank charges.
