House insurance
I guess this is probably a minefield but, who does reasonable house insurance for holiday villas?
just moved in and will be regularly visiting every 6-8 weeks.

Re: House insurance
I recently took a policy with Intasure.
They are UK based, so its all in English, but automatically supplied a policy summary in Portuguese as well.
What I liked about the policy was it combined buildings and contents plus all 3rd Party liability (£5m!) as well as staff insurance, and the rare feature of damage by guests (extra premium). Many policies only cover accidental damage by owner and owners family without the additional option.
When comparing quotes look carefully at features, not just premiums. They vary a lot.
I'm still not sure whether UK based or PT based will be easier when it comes to claims handling, and I hope to never find out !

I also have a policy with Intasure - this is the third year I have used them. Seem to have a reasonable level of cover etc but like e-richard I hope never to find out.
Re: House insurance
I had a quote from intersure and it was very good except for when i read the small print regarding locks for doors and windows all that 5 lever deadlock malarky
have you had all yours done and if so how much did it cost

Re: House insurance
Regarding window locks - does this mean patio doors with shutters and only the normal up/down lock aren't sufficient?
Also what if you have grill bars on the windows - surely they dont need locks as well?

Re: House insurance
Thats my point you can bet that if you put a claim in they will come back and say sorry you didnt have the stipulated locks

Re: House insurance
If you have a pool, its very worth taking out earthquake cover.
Re: House insurance

Re: House insurance
Correct, but they will not pay the first £5,000/ €7,500 of any claim for Earthquake. Check your policy wording carefully.Farol wrote:Earthquake cover is included with Intasure.
There are also a number of exclusions specific to Pools and Pool covers.

Sounds a bit like the famous Monty Python insurance sketch.

Re: House insurance
Sounds like ALL insurance claims these days! Every reason they can find NOT to pay out. I think I might ignore the pool bit - the builders had to dig mine out of solid rock! Thanks those who recommended Intasure - Ive got a quote - bit high at £351 I thought AND the T&C do seem a bit tedious.
