Flat roof repairs

Post by Bruce Wallis »

My neighbour has a flat roof that has started to leak, and needs a professional repair done.
Does anybody know of a man or company that specialises in flat roof repairs and renovation?

I know there are cowboys and builders around who will say that they are experts, but my friend wants the job done properly.

Could you please PM me with any recommendations and phone numbers.

Thankyou.

Not when I'm round yours Pato, you've got a proper toilet.

The Manitenance guy at QdP said forget about expensive quotes, slap a coat of this on and it will keep the water out for a few years and then you slap on another coat. As they maintain shedloads of properties, I took their advice. It cost €500 to do our roof. I'll let you know if it works when we go out next week. My view was, if the €500 treatment lasts 3 years and the €5000 lasts 10, then I'm in pocket.

Sometimes the terrace just needs a sealant coating. Tins of invisible or coloured sealant can be bought from DIY stores or CIN in Lagoa. Different sorts for porous or non-porous tiles. Clean up the terrace/roof and re grout where needed. Chuck it on a small area at a time and use a roller or cheap broom to spread it. Works well and may be worth trying first. Depends on problem. May need a more permanent solution - remove old tiles and render to 6" up the wall, put a flexible waterproof layer (eg Silicon mesh and silicon sealant) on ground and 6" up the wall and then lay tiles and re-render and paint wall.
