Could anyone advise if it is possible to pick up/return a Hire Car from Tunes railway station please? Pick up would be in the evening and return at around 8am at the end of the hire period.
We will be staying in Carvoeiro and travelling down by train from Lisbon.
All advice gratefully received.

It has been over a year since I went to Tunes, but from what I remember it is a small village/town with no car hire places there. You may have to get a taxi into Carvoeiro and then hire a car from there.

YOR, through Algarvedriver, dropped my hire car off near Sesmarias (4km from CVO) at no extra cost (saved the €7.50 airport fee!!).
Agree with Ma-Ja that probably best plan taxi from Tunes then arrange car hire from CVO.

Why don't you go on to estombar - its much closer and a cheaper taxi fare - if you can find a connection of course.

I looked at Estombar for a friend of mine but it added almost two hours to the journey,the connection times are not great.

More trains stop at Silves, usually the train connects timewise with the lisbon trains at Tunes,if there is a delay on the Lisbon connection the trans Algarve train waits for it.

I use the Faro to Lagos train and get off at Estombar. I'm sure Tunes is one of the stops on the way. I posted the Faro train times that stop at Estombar under the topic "Faro for the Day". Sort of every hour until the the train at 12 ish, big wait until next train at 4pm ish.
