WARNING Many car break-ins at the moment.
4 break-ins reported just today in the Carvoeiro area (beaches, streets, parking lots). Please do not leave any objects what so ever in the car - a thief will break in just to see what's under e.g. a newspaper.

All hire cars by chance? Only things I kept in car that were visible were my hire agreement and shopping bags. From several weeks ago, I am now keeping agreement in glove box and shopping bags in boot.

I keep the boot flap removed and the boot clear and leave the doors open.smudger wrote:All hire cars by chance? Only things I kept in car that were visible were my hire agreement and shopping bags. From several weeks ago, I am now keeping agreement in glove box and shopping bags in boot.

Leaving the boot flap off is quite a good idea, but leaving the doors open (unlocked) is perhaps going a step too far : I expect it would invalidate any insurance claim if the car was stolen!I keep the boot flap removed and the boot clear and leave the doors open.
