Can anyone suggest a good place to spend New Years Eve, I know I am a bit late planning anything but its been so hectic

We want somewhere kid friendly, not too expensive, in the centre or near abouts (walking is planned) with a bit of a buzz and that is not sold out already, there will be about a dozen of us or so.

So any suggestions anyone to make our evening go with a bang
