There's been a massive thunderstorm this morning, including a tornado which has caused damage in Carvoeiro Clube then passed through Lagoa and on to silves

just seen a video; seems the tornado whipped up offshore & hit land just West of Monte Carvoeiro, maybe Carvoeiro Clube; headed across land & hit Lagoa by the skateboard park, damaging lots of the blocks of flats there, ripping big windows out & flipping cars & vans upside down; then continued to Silves, the football stadium there looks badly damaged so that's the path it took

I've just spoken to friends; the storm was incredible, masses of thunder & lightning, the church on top of the hill got hit apparently; power, satelite signals etc still going off and on, & it was at 1.30pm so assume lots of people were out, fingers crossed all ok

oh, and I'm not holding out, I'd like to post the videos here but they're on friends FB pages & I can't tag the link, sorry

Very close to home indeed.
I have emailed a neighbour and hopefully she will be able to update us.
Could be a flight back this weekend.
Parts of Lagoa and Silves look like disaster zones.
The church in Carvoeiro was struck by lightning and a fire started, schools were evacuated.

Who says that Cimate change is not happening,

just chatted to a few folks on mobile, roads all round tennis club shut off with trees, fences strewn all over, no power, phones etc, but clearly mobiles working;

rumours that Silves swimming centre destroyed, and sadly rumours of a few fatalities in Lagoa (very unconfirmed)
