Hello - I need to rent car hire now for next February - 4 weeks . I usually go with EasyCar and take what comes - it has been good so far. This time they offered a company that has a list of do not go near posted on tripadvisor. I usually pick up at Faro airport for 4 weeks - any suggestions of a reliable and fair company would be appreciated. Thanks

Why not try the sponsors of this web site, Algarvedriver.com. I've used them several times and had no problems with cars or their rates.

Hi, I have been using Economy Car Hire and never had a problem with them or the companies they use. They do offer full cover in their price unlike others where you are hit with hidden extras when you pick the car up.

If you search there have been several posts on this topic.

Postings on another forum regarding ECH and the companies they use, 2 hour wait for cars at the airport, long queues in the shed in carpark 4.

Find one where you meet you in the terminal.

We used Algarve driver in July, and found them to be efficient and reasonably priced. They delivered the car to our apartments and collected at the times promised. If you have kids, they provide the first car seat or booster free of charge. We bought the second booster at Intermarche for around €13.

Thanks Kaycee - we are going to give them a try - I had not heard of them before but all the remarks about them are favorable - cheers.

I use Economy Car Rentals and have done for the past 4 years. They operate using companies which use the car park 4 cabin. I;ve never had to wait mor than 10 minutes before being served there (far better than the queues with Sixt and also FAR cheaper).
Also, drop off takes seconds rather than 20 minutes.
Finally, I had the misfortune to use one of the terminals ones in July - picked the car up from the airport but then had to drop off at the outside zone drop off on the way to the airport, then wait 20 minutes in the heat with nowhere for my elderly mother to sit down. I won't go that route again. THey also insisted that I did not have full insurance cover despite having pre purchased it. And it was a pretty crap car as well ...

With the "shed" at car park 4, I pick up car, drive to drop off point to pick up mother, drive to apartment.
On return drop of mother at drop off point, drop car off and go to terminal. Could not be easier!

We have used Algarve Driver (http://www.algarvedriver.com/) for a number of years and never had any problems. Cars may have the odd scratch but just make sure they are noted on the hire document. The pick up is at Faro airport and nothing to pay for a second driver. They also have a price match policy which I have used occasionally.
