Agreed. A very nice place to visit. It obviously takes a couple hours to get there from CVO, but we spent a while wandering around the centre of town looking around. We took in the chapel of bones and spent a while in the adjacent park, sitting in the shade with an ice-cream. Lovely.

The countryside on the way was a good mix of sun-kissed fields of wheat (?) and olive groves. A pleasure to drive through. Wished I had left more time for stopping somewhere else enroute.

Lovely city and a very pleasant visit.
It has lots of monuments, streets, churches, parks, etc... to visit and spend a while enjoying.
The views of the countryside are magnificent.
The best time to visit, I think, is in the Spring, where the fields a pleasant green, sometimes a bit yellow, lots of flowers.

We took the A2 -> IP2 route which takes you past Beja. According to Google maps, this is 221km and will take you 2 hours and 54 minutes. Didn't take us that long, but budget for it. Think it's the A2 that's a toll road.

Just put the following into google maps and you can change your route to suit.

It is about 220km to Évora. You can take the A2 (motorway) and exit in Ourique. It is about 5€ for tolls.
From there, on the IP2 (not a motorway), you go to Beja and past that you arrive in Évora.
The road from Ourique to Beja is now a bit bad as there are works undergoing on the road.

The sights, the city, everything is worth the travel.

There are two or three hotels that are nice. I recommend Hotel Dom Fernando. It is near the town center, so you don't need to use the car. Keep in mind that you will have to do some walking.

Sounds great. We are out in 2 weeks time and have booked an overnight stay in Evora. Really looking forward to it

Just had 2 days (1 night) in Evora. Lovely town and well worth the drive. Stayed at Albergaria do Calvario - Peter and Nina are brilliant hosts. By chance the feira was on - thousands of people and not a drunken teenager in sight. How refreshing.
