Large villas for rent Sept 2011

Hi,
We are getting married in Carvoeiro next September and are trying to find accomodation for some of our guests. We need somewhere which sleeps 16 or even two villas or a few apartments beside each other. We have an apartment at Pinta but would probably prefer accomodation nearer the centre for the guests so they dont need taxis. I have been through every website but cant see anything big enough (it probably doesnt exist!) also its hard to know if villas are close together...does anyone know any which could work? Thanks so much! :D

Surely a hotel would be more appropriate ?

I posted a helpful reply recommending the Villa Borboleta but to my dismay find it has been removed by an over-zealous moderator

I have therefore sent you a p.m. with all the details. If you do not receive or cannot open it please p.m. me or post under this topic.

Roy

Thanks Roy, we had been looking at Villa Borboleta so its good to get a recomendation. I have sent you a PM.

Most of the other guests are staying in hotels but this group are keen to have the freedom of a villa/couple of villas. I think its the novelty of all being on holiday at the one time!

On our first visit to Carvoeiro we (9 of us) stayed in Villa Pires and right behind it was Villa Teresa, owned by the same family and could take 10 people. The villas were up a steep hill above the restaurant at the top of the "out " road , R. de Barranco, just before it joins the "In" road.

However, that was in 1992 and although the villas are still there, don't know if they are still rental properties. Have tried a Google search with no luck. Maybe some other forum member may have further info.

If anyone wishes to suggest rental property companies, by all means send a PM to the requester.

Free advertising on the forum is not accepted.

I fully understand free advertising by the owner of a property or business is not allowable but advice by a third party, with no financial interest, to a genuine enquiry and which may be of use to other forum members surely should not be peremptorily deleted. This particularly when the poster is well known as being genuine.

Perhaps Richard a case of being a bit heavy-handed in your first few weeks in the job ?

Sorry roy, I'm with Richard.... but then I suppose I would say that being one of the paying advertisers!

I completely agree that advice should be given but links to websites that do not contribute to the running of this site should really not be allowed. Surely a PM is not too much trouble? :?:

Should this also apply to such as Jeremy's post of today re sofa-beds? Personally I think not when, as I said, it may be of use to other forum members. A PM is by definition only helping one member.

I'm with Roy. I've been searching for a range of things and got some good ideas from past posts. If it comes from an established member, then it should be allowed. If it's a blatant plug from Peter Onepost then that's different.

I have now had the opportunity to look at your web-site AVO where the biggest villa on offer is 5 bedrooms.

As the Villa Borboleta has 8/9 bedrooms I can see no conflict with your business.

I agree with Roy and LB. This forum is for helping other members, in the past I have given information and web sites freely without any question. So whats different now. Does this mean that from now on we can not say up by Algarve Shopping which by definition is advertising for the complex.

Having read again e-Richards reference, I can see no relevance therein to this topic.

However could I direct you to the new topic 'Advising or advertising?' which is probably a more relevant vehicle for discussing this topic.

Question

Why does everyone assume new members are somehow not trustworthy? "If it comes from an established member, then it should be allowed. If it's a blatant plug from Peter Onepost then that's different." (quote from laserblazer).

This attitude is perhaps alienating new members and is in danger of turning the forum into a vehicle for an "elite !!!???!!!" established few to express their narrow opinions to the exclusion of a wider audience. There can be no logic for deleting Roys post re the large villa but leaving the plug for the sofabed supplier.
